When Someone Shows You Who They Are… LISTEN

You’ve been showing me who you are
I need to trust that
Yet I keep coming back despite the shady behavior
Laying myself down like a doormat

You’ve lied
Been hypocritical
And yet still say you’re not the drama

You’ve ruined two of my friendships
Hid your real name
Need to stay away from your karma

It’s coming
The most wicked of truths
I have no fear of people knowing mine
Yet for you, you’ll lose

Don’t want people knowing
You’re an adult who gets paid to have sex
Afraid of everyone’s perception
Or is it really about what comes next

That one secret gets out
And suddenly everyone else says, “Me too!”
Maybe you’ve fucked around and hid
More than we all knew

Tell me you’re so busy
Work work work
Yet you drop everything to train
With any young girl who gives you a smirk

Except me
Won’t train straps or even acknowledge when I speak
It’s healthy for me to write this out
Finding the answers I seek

I don’t want to be with an almost 40 year old
Who spends his free time with 18–24 year olds
Nor do I want to play all of your weird mind games
The fact you can’t even apologize has me sold

Sold on the fact
You’re not all you think you are
Fooled me once, twice, three times
It only got so far

Sucking on my nipples yesterday
Today on the phone dismissing me
Texting me goodmoaaanin
Then off to a camping trip with another woman, free

Always free
A single man on the move
Does what he wants when he wants
No care for anyone, unwilling to soothe

The real reason you hide me
Is you don’t want perceptions to change
Women to not touch you so much
Your less than perfect imagine becoming more deranged

These poems serve two purposes… 1) The clarity they provide me. And the greatest reason I feel compelled to share.. 2) For you to experience the “we.”
