Loving the Children and Integrating Family

It’s funny how you’ll let me
Clean, babysit, and teach your child
Yet I can see you resisting yourself
When it comes to nighttime routine, wild

As if your son
Wanting to cuddle with me
Is somehow taking away from you
Ya see…

Remember when you said I’m always invited
To be wherever you are
Yet you never actually asked me
So from you I felt far

You haven’t given yourself permission
To love me without hesitation
That same limited willingness to love
Into the offspring has taken manifestation

Let him love me without jealousy
Or is his moms voice still pulling at the puppet strings
Why not look at me lovingly and with gratitude
Admiration for the purity to dance and sing

And be wild, kind, and authentic
Admiration for advocating for us
She’s there for you, ya know
So quit with all the fuss

Please know when you decide to love me
Giving yourself permission to surrender in love
It’ll happen after you forgive yourself
The old stories disposed of

Hanging in a hammock
Under the strawberry moon
Feeling lonely in your presence
Wish I was in ya’ll snuggle cocoon

I deserve attention and intention
And a family with which to co-create
Make love to me, mi amore
Please help satiate

These poems serve two purposes… 1) The clarity they provide me. And the greatest reason I feel compelled to share.. 2) For you to experience the “we.”
