He Asked Me To Move In On Our Second Date

The first of a series of red flags

I brought your jacket with me
Thousands of miles across the globe
You’ll never know..
Too caught up fighting with an ex and wanting a dick to probe

This isn’t going to work
I want a Daddy and not a distracted boy
I deserve curiosity and affection
An oracle, leader, partner, play toy

I’m too much of a woman for this
Not going to indulge in drama or beg for affection
This is the last and final warning
It’s not hard to love and give attention

Am I being too harsh?
Not in the least bit, Baby
You offered a boy to be a Daddy
He didn’t even say thank you or say maybe

Left you on read
After you poured your heart out
He’s more concerned about getting dick
Desiring affirmation getting doubt

Should you show him this?
Should we protect his ego?
Well he did say not to defend him
And I’m not interested in a placebo

A pretend love
I should have saw the red flag
Said I was his dream woman
Yet talks more about men in drag

I’m not holding any more space to hear a single thing about an ex
Kindly, handle your shit
I’m not your trainer, coach, leader
I’m absolutely not going to commit

To a man who doesn’t show interest
Or genuine curiosity in my world
I’ll continue to explore this reality
Being someone else’s Babygirl

These poems serve two purposes… 1) The clarity they provide me. And the greatest reason I feel compelled to share.. 2) For you to experience the “we.”
