Embers of Ambition: Icarus’ Love in Freefall

All too familiar with his heart
The one made of Icarian wax
Like Helios watching Phaeton
Lose control of the chariot and pay the tax

A hearty tax indeed
One may even say the price of a head
She doesn’t want to burn him
Only celebrate and embed

In past dreams too high
They yearned to fly
Ignored the warnings
Without clear instructors, lost in the sky

Ambitions unclear and grand
A hard lesson learned
Unspoken soaring dreams
In flames, they both got burned.

These poems serve two purposes… 1) The clarity they provide me. And the greatest reason I feel compelled to share.. 2) For you to experience the “we.”
