A Final Phone Call

Reminded of the Reasons I Stopped Answering Before

“It’s not two people talking”
It’s not meant to be
Right now, what that was/is
Is for me to express, and you to see

REALLY SEE
Ears, eyes, heart, spirit
To WITNESS ME
The only way to clear it

I didn’t call you
To hear excuses or more of the same
I called you to tell you about the trial
Let you witness a tiny fraction of my pain

“I’m an empath”
You told me in some of our first chats
You’ve didn’t put boundaries in with ex
And you choose to lie, scat

Scat, scoot, go away
Or at the very least
Take a moment to clear your mind
And hold space for this to release

The start of an epic love story
Full of ecstasy and despair
The only way that could have evolved
Is if you were willing to repair

I stopped speaking to you
Because there wasn’t any trust
Didn’t know if you’d stab me again
Like testify against me, bust

Today on the call you said
“Well, you hurt me too”
All I ever asked you was for truth
What you gave me was a damn coup…

…and chlamydia… LOL. You gave me that too.

These poems serve two purposes… 1) The clarity they provide me. And the greatest reason I feel compelled to share.. 2) For you to experience the “we.”
